Itinerary Details

Day 1:  Transfer to Arusha

On arrival at the Kilimanjaro International airport you will obtain a visa at the immigration department in the airport a process that will take you a few minutes. As you emerge to the arrivals hall you will be met by our representative who will meet and assist you to a waiting car which will transfer you to a lodge around Arusha. On arrival at the lodge you will check in and have a few minutes talk with our safari manager who will brief you on your safari. Overnight at hotel or lodge.

Day 2:  Safari to Lake Manyara

At around 08.00 Am; your driver is waiting at your Hotel’s lounge and your luggage is parked in the 4×4 safari land cruiser ready to take off You will pass by Arusha town briefly for you to do brief shopping of a few personal effects that you may need as well as to change some money if you wish and off you leave the town past the Arusha Airport further across the Masai Steppe and across the Great Rift Valley to Lake Manyara National Park. The name Manyara is a Masai word for the acacia tortillis tree species which the nomadic Masai people use to make hedges to protect their homesteads and livestock. The park is highlighted with lots of these trees and the tree climbing lions which are often spotted taking afternoon siesta on the branches.  Other animals common in this park includes the impalas, giraffes buffaloes and impalas.Just at the entrance of this beautiful park is an underground water forest and a perfect habitat for the Blue monkeys, the baboons, bush bucks and the gigantic elephants sheltering in the sheds from the afternoon sun and devouring the green branches and twigs and herbs. The Hippo pools and at the Lake Manyara itself you will get the chance to observe the Hippos and the aquatic birds including the colorful Flamingoes, pelicans, Egyptian geese, cormorants, and many more. You will take lunch at one of the picnic sites in the national park. In the late afternoon you will drive to the campsite. Overnight at the chosen campsite

Day 3:  Safari to Lake Natron

After your breakfast at the Lodge you will be on your way to Lake Natron which is apparently the breeding site for the lesser and greater flamingos who migrate here every year from as far as Lake Nakuru, and Baringo in Kenya. On your way you will view Masai villages and after an hour you will be at Engaruka village where you will have brief stop to visit the Engaruka ruins. These are ruins of an ancient mysterious city with confiscated irrigation canals that are believed to be more than five hundred years old. You will be shown the canals and remnants of the buildings and graves. There after you will be on your way again to Lake Natron, with views of more Maasai villages and wildlife; arriving in time for lunch at your lodge. After lunch at he lodge and a short rest you will go for a walk at the Lake and depending on water levels you can take a dip or go for a boat ride. You will have the chance also to walk upstream of the Ngaresero River up to the water falls. On your walk upstream you are likely to encounter monkeys and baboons along the way. In the afternoon you can go for a sundowner at the Lake Natron. Overnight at Lake Natron camp,

Day 4:  Safari to Serengeti

After your breakfast you will take a walk at the Lake again if you wish and thereafter leave for the Serengeti National Park. You will cross the Loliondo Game Controlled area where apparently the wildebeestes herds cross on and around November and December when they are coming from Masai Mara in Kenya. After the registration formalities at the Klein’s Gate you will go for game drive in the vast plains of the Serengeti National Park (on your way to the lodge) where you will get the chance to see lots of animals and birdlife alike. Among animals that can be seen here includes the zebras, buffaloes, baboons, topis, impalas, cheetahs, leopards and the recently introduced Rhinos, which were the only member of the big Five that was missing in this park.

Day 5 – 6:  Game Drive  in Serengeti

At day break you are out to the Serengeti plains for a sunrise game drive that normally offers the only chance of sighting the nocturnal species retiring and also the diurnal species waking up to a new day before you go back  for breakfast. After breakfast you will leave for a full day of game drives exploring the Serengeti. Depending on the season and time of the year, this is where you will witness the magnificent natural phenomenon of the ‘Great migration’ where more than one and a half million wildebeests accompanied by hundreds of thousands of gazelles and zebras brave the crocodile infested rivers and cross the border into the Masai Mara in Kenya in search of green pastures and water. The resident animals and birds that stay all year round in Serengeti makes sure that the park is must visit whenever one travels to Tanzania. Later in the afternoon you will drive back to the campsite for dinner and overnight overnight at Serengeti seronera camp,

Day 7: Safari to Ngorongoro Crater

After breakfast your drive via Naabi gate to the largest unbroken Caldera of the world; Ngorongoro Crater also referred to as the ‘Eden of Africa’ and also the ‘eighth wonder of the world’. About an hour and a half hour’s steady drive and you will be at the Main Gate of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area where you will undergo some registration formalities and off you drive to the Crater Rim where you will make a brief stop at the View point. You will then descend to the Crater floor for a full day of game drive in search of the BIG FIVE; The Elephants, Rhino, Lions, Leopard, and Buffaloes which can be sighted in a one day with a little bit of luck. In the Crater floor you expect to see animals at amazingly close range and these includes; zebras, topis, gazelles, hartebeests, warthogs, wildebeestes, hippos, hyenas, serval cats, silver backed jackals, and many more species. At the center of the Crater floor is Lake Makat where you expect to see a lot of aquatic birdlife like the colorful flamingos, Egyptian geese, cormorants, grebes.  After taking lunch at a designated picnic site ear a hippo pool you will continue with game drives till later in the afternoon when you will ascend back to the Crater Rim, where you will check in at your campsite for dinner and overnight.

Day 8:  Safari from  Ngorongoro to Lake Eyasi

After breakfast you check out of the lodge and now head to the Lake Eyasi area for a cultural encounter of a life time. Eyasi is the home of a hunter -gatherer tribe known as the Hadzabe people with who have stood all the odds of westernization and still leave the ancient way of making a living through hunting animals and gathering fruits and tubers for food. The Hadzabes are a small ethnic group that has been able to co-exist harmoniously with nature. You will have the chance to meet also the Datoga people a small tribe also with a rich cultural heritage.
This is a cultural day is wrapped up by a wonderful sundowner at the Lake Eyasi and if you are lucky to have visited after the long rains, you can take a dip in the lake. Overnight at Lake Eyasi camp

Day 9:Game Drive to Tarangire

Very early in the morning you will go for a traditional hunting session with the Bushmen and after breakfast you will check out of the lodge. You will then be on your way to Tarangire National Park which is the third largest national park in Tanzania. After registration formalities you will go for a full day of game drives in this fabulous national park highlighted with the gigantic baobab trees and abnormally large herds of elephants. At Tarangire you will have the chance to sight the rare Oryx, and other animals the likes of zebras, giraffes, warthogs, leopards, cheetahs etc. The Tarangire River which is the life blood of this national park ensures a year round supply of water and the river beds takes center stage when animals gather to get this rare commodity resulting into magnificent wildlife actions when the predators try to grab a meal taking advantage of the moment. Later in the afternoon you will drive to your campsite for dinner and overnight. Overnight at Tarangire campsite

Day 10:  Safari from Tarangire – Arusha

One last game drives in Tarangire or goes for a nature walk at the boundaries of the park with the guidance of a Maasai warrior or an armed ranger. After breakfast you will check out of the lodge and rive back to Arusha for dinner and over night at lodge .End of your Budget Safari
